My dad collected what I believe is the one and only deposit of this unique fossil. The whole story is in a blog essay here. Go to the KinesavaTALKS link to read the story. If you have any doubts about whether this rock will take a great polish, look at the pieces that have been polished. It will.
In all the pieces I have closely examined, the "stick" (which is often a reed or something else) is a fantastic silica replacement of the original organic material. I made microscopic slides of one in college (the college kept the slides) and they looked like they were right out of a botony textbook.
My pricing is based on the results of Internet auctions I have seen at prestige auction sites. The details (such as the seller) of these auctions are not released publically, but I believe my dad traded a few pieces at rock shows (such as the Quartzite show held in January) and these are the pieces that have been sold at auction. I believe my prices are a fraction of the auction results, but I prefer to work with people personally rather than through a third party; another result of my "Mission Statement": "I'm not really in business. I'm just having fun with my dad's rocks."
Once the pieces I have are gone, then they're gone!
