My wife, Roxy, does beautiful needlework. Quilts, cross-stitch, embroidery ... beautiful stuff. We use some of it and some pieces are displayed on our walls. But for most of it, when she finishes a piece, it goes in one of several big chests we have in the house.
The goal is the journey, not the destination.
That's the way I feel about my writing. I have complete novels that nobody - except me of course - has read. Occasionally, I read one again and make a few changes. I find that enormously satisfying.
But like my wife's needlework, I also use some of it. The Last Mammoth is a great example. It's been published in a Salt Lake City literary magazine and I have shared it with a lot of people over the years since I originally wrote it. It's one of my own personal favorites.
So ... Read the story first, then read the afterword. And let me know if you want more ( or less! ) of my more creative writing.
